Safeguarding Ocracoke's historic and cultural treasures ...for generations to come

Since its founding in 1983, the Ocracoke Preservation Society (OPS), a non-profit, community-based organization, has been dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. Our goal is to provide access to education, research, and exploration of the island’s rich history and culture through programs, events, and exhibits. We invite you to explore this site, and come to the museum to learn more about the fascinating history of Ocracoke!

Brick Pathways
at the
Island Inn Commons

In 2024, the Commons laid two brick pathways as entranceways to the fig garden. 363 islanders and visitors purchased bricks and created their own dedications. More brick pathways will be installed in 2025 and 2026!
To dedicate a brick, there are 3 steps:
1. DONATE FOR YOUR BRICK
BEFORE you do your dedication, donate for the brick below. You'll choose "Brick - $100" in the "Donation Type" field.

2. CRAFT YOUR DEDICATION
Decide on your dedication you want on your brick.
Write it out before putting it on form (that is Step 3).
The dedication can be up to 3 lines of text.
Each line can be up to 20 characters, including spaces.
You can also use the symbols below.
In your text, put the symbol name in brackets.
